Better Light

Lighting is often the first fix because it changes every material in the room. A good lamp can make a sofa, curtain, rug, and wall color feel more intentional before a single new decorative object is added.

What to check first

  • Bulb temperature: most calm living rooms want warm light, not blue-white task light.
  • Shade material: paper, linen, and fabric diffuse more gently than exposed bulbs.
  • Height: light should sit near faces, corners, or surfaces, not glare from above.
  • Placement: one overhead fixture cannot do all the emotional work.

Use the lighting articles when a room looks finished in daylight but falls apart at night.
